What a great company to tour with. Booked with tour Barossa online and followed up with a call to see if they could include a visit to maggie beers farm in the itinerary. The visit was not guaranteed but you definitely enhance your chances if you go mid week and NOT during the school holidays. As it turned out we were 2 of 4 people on the tour and happily the other 2 were as keen as we were to get to the farm.
Kerry was our tour guide. A Barossa local so she was full of really interesting insights and facts about the area. We were able to stop at smaller, boutique wineries rather than the larger more "commercial" ones. And she threw in a visit the whispering wall which was definitely a bonus.
All in all a great day, friendly people, wonderful wine and produce, comfortable van with plenty of room for your purchases although I would recommend paying to have your purchases shipped home if you can. The goods arrive safely and it is nice to get "surprise" packages a day or two after you get back.
Lunch was included - a nice rustic style platter with cold meats, breads, relishes etc which we washed down with a wine of course ; )
Although not strictly an adults only tour I would not really recommend taking young children with you. Here really isn't enough to to keep them occupied at the wineries and I think they would just get bored.
