What a great company to tour with. Booked with tour Barossa online and followed up with a call to see if they could include a visit to maggie beers farm in the itinerary. The visit was not guaranteed but you definitely enhance your chances if you go mid week and NOT during the school holidays. As it turned out we were 2 of 4 people on the tour and happily the other 2 were as keen as we were to get to the farm.
Kerry was our tour guide. A Barossa local so she was full of really interesting insights and facts about the area. We were able to stop at smaller, boutique wineries rather than the larger more "commercial" ones. And she threw in a visit the whispering wall which was definitely a bonus.
All in all a great day, friendly people, wonderful wine and produce, comfortable van with plenty of room for your purchases although I would recommend paying to have your purchases shipped home if you can. The goods arrive safely and it is nice to get "surprise" packages a day or two after you get back.
Lunch was included - a nice rustic style platter with cold meats, breads, relishes etc which we washed down with a wine of course ; )
Although not strictly an adults only tour I would not really recommend taking young children with you. Here really isn't enough to to keep them occupied at the wineries and I think they would just get bored.
About us and why we do, what we do!
What makes us different | Quality | Local | Authentic Experiences
We are Steve & Kym Brown and we started business in 1995 when we started with one Bed and Breakfast after going on our honeymoon in 1991. We purchased our 1st tour vehicle a 48-215 (FX) holden which we still have today (for weddings) in 1999 we won our first tourism award; in 2001 we won the South Australian Tourism Award for hosted accommodation for Treasured Memories and then to our excitement winning the pinnacle, Australian Tourism Award. This was a direct catalyst for us starting Getaways Reservation Service in 2001 and we have been fortunate to have won 6 Tourism awards (one hall of fame for Specialised Tourism Services – 2004, 2005, 2006) and one for Tourism Product Marketing (2003) and have 3 consecutive wins for Specialised Tourism Services in 2009, 2010, and 2011 inducted into the South Australian Hall of Fame in 2011.
A major contributing factor we attribute to our success is that we have a dedicated passionate, professional team and the outstanding service we provide. We are tourism accredited and have always entered the South Australian Tourism Awards, this is our preferred way of reassessing the previous year’s achievements and identifying any potential areas of improvement or innovation.
During the Award process a few years ago we identified a niche in the market place and started Tour Barossa, offering Fun, Flexible, Affordable Tours of the Barossa Valley. In our first year we were thrilled to be awarded Silver in New Tourism development in 2009, a significant achievement for one 12 Seat mini bus and testament on how small business can achieve success. Tour Barossa has won 4 consecutive South Australian Tourism Awards and an Australian Tourism Award. These accolades are testament to our commitment to tourism with in our region and state. Confirming our dedication to exceeding your expectations.
We now own 14 properties(Treasured Memories Accommodation), Getaways Reservation Service employing about 30 (casual) team members and booking Australia wide and 2 tour buses, 2 Chrysler 300C’s, a Chrysler Grand Voyager, 5 mini buses and a 33 seat midi coach. There is still some very exciting times ahead in the wonderful tourism industry and we hope we can be of service to you.
In 2014 we rebranded to Getaways SA demonstrating our commitment to South Australian tourism and the diversity of product we provide. Touring into all the surrounding regions of Adelaide. The success of the rebrand was recognised winning the 2015 South Australian Tourism Award for Specialised Tourism Services.
